DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke finished off another outstanding season in 2014-15 highlighted by the fifth NCAA Championship for the men's basketball team under the leadership of head coach
Mike Krzyzewski. A total of 16 different Blue Devil teams received NCAA Tournament bids, while 11 different teams ranked in the top 10 nationally at one point and 13 squads ranked in the top 25.
A total of 31 Duke student-athletes received All-America distinctions, while 18 earned All-Region and All-District honors. As a rookie for the women's golf team,
Leona Maguire captured the ANNIKA Award and the WGCA National Player of the Year honors, while both Maguire and
Jahlil Okafor of the men's basketball team earned National Freshman of the Year accolades. Duke senior women's basketball standout
Elizabeth Williams was presented with the WBCA National Defensive Player of the Year award, while men's lacrosse junior
Myles Jones was voted the Lt. j.g. Donald MacLaughlin Jr. Award winner as the National Midfielder of the Year.
Duke featured five ACC individual champions, including three from the track & field program –
Megan Clark (Indoor Track & Field – Pole Vault),
Thomas Lang (Outdoor Track & Field – Javelin) and
Tanner Johnson (Outdoor Track & Field – Decathlon).
Conner Hartmann (wrestling) and
Leona Maguire (golf) each also notched ACC titles in their respective sports.
On the academic side, four Blue Devils received Capital One Academic All-America honors –
David Helton (football),
Lauren Blazing (field hockey),
Sean Davis (soccer) and
Elizabeth Williams (women's basketball). Blazing, Helton and Williams also earned ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades.
