GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke University standouts
Elizabeth Williams and
Rebecca Greenwell have been named to the 2014-15 All-ACC Women's Basketball Academic Team.
Louisville and Pitt lead all schools with three student-athletes named to the team, while Boston College, Duke, Virginia and Virginia Tech each placed two members on the squad.
The honor for Williams is the third of her career, while the 6-3 senior was also the recipient of the Kay Yow Award last week as the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
A product of Virginia Beach, Va., Williams is obtaining a degree in psychology and is planning on going into the medical field. She has tallied a 3.43 grade-point average over her Duke career and was recently selected a Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America. Williams is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District III honoree, two-time ACC All-Academic Team and two-time ACC Honor Roll selection. She was named to the Dean's List at Duke in the spring of 2012.
Williams heads into the NCAA Tournament averaging 14.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.9 blocks and 1.6 steals for the Blue Devils. She currently ranks 16th in the NCAA in blocks and currently leads all centers nationally with a 2.5 assist per game average. The 6-3, three-time All-America and four-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year owns 10 double-doubles on the year, including five in ACC action.
A product of Owensboro, Ky., Greenwell made an immediate impact on the Blue Devil squad as a rookie averaging 14.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals on the season. Her 62 three-pointers made is a new Duke freshman record, while also ranking sixth on the ACC single-season freshman charts. In the ACC stats, Greenwell ranks 14th in scoring, seventh in free throw percentage (81.1), sixth in steals, sixth in three-point field goals made per game (2.0) and tied fourth in average minutes (34.2).
