CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Duke football team traveled to Chapel Hill on Saturday and dropped a 66-31 decision to No. 21 North Carolina in ACC action in front of 60,000 fans at Kenan Memorial Stadium.
The Tar Heels compiled 704 yards of total offense as Marquise Williams threw for 494 yards and four touchdowns. North Carolina improved to 8-1 and 5-0 in the ACC while the Blue Devils fell to 6-3 and 3-2 in league action.
For Duke,
Thomas Sirk recorded 265 yards of total offense and rushed for two scores.
Jela Duncan led the ground attack for the Blue Devils, finishing with 115 yards rushing and a 52-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
Shaquille Powell added 98 yards on the ground for Duke.
Parker Boehme connected with
Erich Schneider on a four-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter for Duke's final score.
Defensively,
Jeremy Cash reached double figures in tackles (10 total) for the fifth time this season and 15th time in his career.
DeVon Edwards finished with a game-high 12 stops for Duke.
The Blue Devils return to action next Saturday in Durham against Pittsburgh for Senior Day.
