DURHAM, N.C. – Blue Devil incoming freshman
Rebecca Quinn and a group of 19 prospective Canadian players for next year's FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup will travel to Copenhagen, Denmark for a 12-day Women's National Excel camp from July 23 through Aug. 3.
Quinn and Canada's U-20 Women's National Team will take part in a three-match friendly schedule in Denmark taking on local professional side Ballerup-Skovlunde on July 29; before going up against national teams from Norway on July 31 and Denmark on Aug. 2. The head coach of the U-20 squad for Canada is Andrew Olivieri.
A native of Toronto, Canada, Quinn was a member of Canada's U-17 National Team in 2011 and 2012 and was one of seven nominees for the Canadian U-17 Player of the Year in 2012. The 5-9 midfielder led Canada to a quarterfinalist finish at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan in 2012 and a silver medal at the 2012 CONCACAF U-17 Women's Championship in Guatemala.
The upcoming camp in Denmark is the third training of the 2013 season for players in the specific U-17 to U-19 age group who will be eligible to participate in the 2014 FIFA Women's World Cup which will take place in Canada in August of next year.
