DURHAM, N.C. - On Wednesday, the Duke Athletic department held its first "Bleed Blue, Live Green" spring cleaning event as coaches and staff members took advantage of the beautiful Durham weather to clear trash and debris from in and around the athletic facilities on West Campus.
"We take a great deal of pride in our environment and the Duke campus, and yesterday was a prime example of that fact," said Gerald Harrison, Duke's Associate Director of Athletics for Human Resources. "We had an outstanding effort from our staff - many thanks to everyone who participated."
Split into five units based on office location, the staff collected trash from surrounding areas including Wallace Wade Stadium, Krzyzewskiville, Card Gym, Koskinen Stadium and Jack Coombs Field.
The following individuals served as team captains: David Cutcliffe and Kent McLeod (Yoh Center & Pascal Field House), Jay Bissette and Joe Manhertz (Murray Building & West Village), Steve McCune and Pam Bustin (Wilson Center, Taishoff Aquatic Center, Card Gym & Sheffield Center), Nina King and Kate Senger (Schwartz-Butters Building) and Carey Goodman and Lolly Hemphill (Krzyzewski Center & Cameron Indoor Stadium).
