Quinzani Lifts Cannons into MLL Championship Game

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - With 1.2 ticks left on the clock Boston Cannons attackman Max Quinzani came through with arguably the biggest goal of his Major League Lacrosse career. The 2010 Duke graduate registered his third goal of the game to give the top-seeded Cannons the 14-13 win over the reigning MLL Champions Chesapeake Bayhawks. Former Blue Devil Brad Ross also registered a goal for Boston in the win.
The Cannons earned their first MLL playoff victory and will take on the Hamilton Nationals in the championship game on Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPN2. Boston trailed 6-5 at halftime, but used a 4-2 win in the third quarter to go in front 9-8. The Cannons piled on the goals to start the fourth, going ahead 13-8 with 9:49 left to play.
Chesapeake rallied with four unanswered, including a two-point goal, to even the score with 37 seconds to go. That's when Quinzani came through with a low shot past the Bayhawks goaltender for the win.
Ross will be going for his second career MLL title. The 2009 Duke graduate helped guide the Toronto Nationals to the Steinfeld Trophy in 2009, its first year as an expansion club. He finished with one two-point goal in the game.
