OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The Duke women's rowing team opened the spring season with a scrimmage against the University of Buffalo in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
The team competed in the V8, second V8, third V8 and the V4. Official times were not taken but the women were successful in each of the 2000 meter races, and swept Buffalo in all events.
"After a hard winter training regiment, it's always great to get on the water and start competing," said head coach Robyn Horner. "I thought we handled the scrimmage really well. The rowing was clean and aggressive. We're going to work on getting our blades locked in better prior to this weekend's race."
The Duke rowers will open official timed competition this weekend when they head to Cherry Hill, N.J. to compete in a double dual meet against Penn and St. Joseph's on Saturday, March 19.
