DURHAM, N.C.- Success in Major League Lacrosse for a collection of former Blue Devils continued in recent weeks as a collection of six Duke players have helped lead teams to the MLL Championship weekend on Aug. 21-22 in Annapolis, Md.
The Boston Cannons, Denver Outlaws, Long Island Lizards and Chesapeake Bayhawks all clinched a spot in the final weekend. Former Blue Devils who are members of the playoff squads are Max Quinzani (Boston), Brad Ross (Boston), Ryan McFadyen (Denver), Ned Crotty (Long Island), Matt Danowski (Long Island), Zack Greer (Long Island), Parker McKee (Long Island) and Matt Zash (Long Island).
Quinzani recently was named the MLL Rookie of the Week after scoring three goals and an assist to help Boston clinch the regular season title. The native of Duxbury, Mass., currently leads all MLL rookies in goals scored with 10 tallies and 15 points overall in just six games. Ross has played in all 11 games in the midfield this season for the Cannons and 11 goals (five two-point goals) and three assists for 19 points on the season.
Danowski also recently collected a weekly honor as he was selected as the MLL Player of the Week for the third time this season. The veteran attackman registered eight points on three goals and five assists. He currently sits in No. 2 spot in the league in scoring with 24 goals (four two-point goals) and 17 assists for 45 points.
With 17 goals and three assists for 20 points, Greer has played in nine games overall and has scored 17 points in the past five outings. McKee has helped anchor the Long Island defense since being drafted with the fourth pick. He owns five points from one goal and four assists as Long Island has won the past four contests.
McFadyen played in five games with the Outlaws this season, while Zash has suited up in four contests for the Lizards.
The MLL regular season concludes on Aug. 7 with three contests. The playoffs kick off on Aug. 21 at 12 p.m., in Annapolis, Md.
