DURHAM, N.C.-Several former Blue Devil men's lacrosse players are having great success in Major League Lacrosse as the league just finished the first half of its season. Most recently,
Matt Danowski and
Ned Crotty were named the MLL Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Here is a breakdown of how the Blue Devils are doing.
Max Quinzani - Boston Cannons
- Owns 11 points (7g, 4a) in just four games played
- Team is tied for the top position with the Denver Outlaws with a 6-3 overall record
Brad Ross - Boston Cannons
- Played in nine games for the Cannons and has nine goals (four two-point goals) and three assists for 16 points
- Has helped the Cannons to the top of the league standings with a 6-3 record
Nick O'Hara - Chesapeake Bayhawks
- Played in three games for the Bayhawks
Ned Crotty - Chicago Machine/Team USA
- Named Week Nine Rookie of the Week after netting his first career hat trick against the Long Island Lizards
- Crotty leads all rookies with 14 points on six goals and eight assists
- Also named Rookie of the Week in week seven after scoring two goals and three assists in an 18-14 win over Denver
- Is the lone MLL Rookie to represent the United States in the FIL World Championships in Manchester, England
- Won the Bud Light Skills Competition for shooting accuracy at the annual MLL All-Star game
Ryan McFadyen - Denver Outlaws
- Played in five games for the Denver Outlaws, which sits atop the league with a 6-3 overall record
- Has six ground balls for the year
Matt Danowski - Long Island Lizards
- Named week nine Offensive Player of the Week, his second such honor, for his seven-point outburst in a 17-15 win over the Chicago Machine. Netted a two-pointer in the final two minutes to break the 15-15 tie
- Ranks third in the league in points with 35 and is tied for second in goals with 20
- Tied an MLL record with three two-point goals in the win over the Machine
- Is the only MLL player to be named Offensive Player of the Week twice this season
Zack Greer - Long Island Lizards
- Named week eight Offensive Player of the Week for his five goals, including the game-winner, in a 13-12 win over the Chicago Machine
- Ranks second on the team in points with 20 from 17 goals and three assists
- Will represent Canada at the FIL World Championships in Manchester, England
Parker McKee - Long Island Lizards
- Played in four games for the Lizards and has one goal and four assists for five points
- Registered his first professional goal in a 13-12 win over the Chicago Machine
- Named an alternate for the US Lacrosse team for the FIL World Championships
Mike Ward - Long Island Lizards
- Played in nine games as a midfielder and owns two tallies
Matt Zash - Long Island Lizards
- Played four games for the Lizards
- A member of the of the US Lacrosse team playing at the FIL World Championships in Manchester, England
