Head Coach John Danowski
On beating Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Tournament
"We beat them twice in the regular season and lost to them in the tournament. They were great games. This feels like any first round win would to be honest. The fact that we drew [Johns Hopkins], we were all scared. We know of the talent they have and the coaching staff's ability to prepare a team. We respected them so much that it really created a focus in our group early on."
On the 12-goal run in the span of 33 minutes
"For us to be successful we try to figure out how to score goals in different ways. Whether it's off the faceoff or the riding game. I think the seventh goal was in the riding game, where CJ Costabile caused a turnover at midfield, Justin Turri picked up the ground ball and threw it to Max [Quinzani] who finished on the backside and we want to be able to do that. I thought offensively our guys were unselfish, played with their heads up and played very very smart. Ron Caputo, our offensive coach, did a great job of preparing our guys all week and deserves a lot of credit."
On the play of Max Quinzani and Ned Crotty
"Again if you really watch they are a function of the team. When the rest of the team plays well, it allows them to make plays. I thought Steve Schoeffel probably had three or four second assists. He would draw two players, move the ball to Ned and Ned would attack the cage and look backside and make a play for someone else who got open. But a lot of our plays were created by other people. Max is one of those guys who scores goals, he figures out how to do it. Whether it's extra man, riding situation, off a scramble or off the faceoff, he can score goals. We have some designed plays, but when a team is playing well attackmen are supposed to get points for us. That's just the nature of how we're trying to play so games like today and last week against Sacred Heart don't really surprise me."
Senior attackman Max Quinzani
On how dominant Duke looked against Johns Hopkins
"I'm not sure how people interpreted us playing Sacred Heart before the tournament started. For us though, it's been a great two weeks of preparation and Ned [Crotty] and I really got to get in a groove and score a good amount of points. We walked in today feeling really confident. I know the goal looked about as big as an ocean to me and [Ned Crotty] seems to be getting me and everyone else the ball well. We're not afraid to go at the net."
Senior defenseman Parker McKee
On beating Johns Hopkins
"Losing to them to end our season my freshman and sophomore year was tough. Going home the rest of the summer after those losses was never fun so to come out and be able to do it today was great. I'm glad we got a win over Hopkins and glad we got another win in general."
