BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Duke University men's and women's track and field teams sit in sixth and third place, respectively, at the conclusion of the second session of the 2010 Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at Virginia Tech's Rector Fieldhouse.
Six of 17 events have been completed thus far, as the Blue Devil men have totaled 23.5 points while the women have tallied 34.

Virginia Tech leads the men's team scoring with 35 points, a half-point ahead of second-place North Carolina. Florida State, bidding for its eighth straight championship, sits in third place at 34. Virginia holds fourth place with 33 team points.
The Clemson women lead with 53 points, followed by Florida State with 35.
The men's heptathlon concluded with its final three events, and freshman Curtis Beach earned a bronze medal and All-ACC honors with a school record 5,579 point performance. Senior Buzz Moorman came in seventh with a personal-best 4,901, now the second-highest total in Duke history.
The men's 5,000m saw Bo Waggoner improve upon 2009's ninth-place showing as the junior earned All-ACC accolades with a third-place, 14:29.64 clocking. Senior James Osborne finished in the top 10 with a time of 14:44.08 for ninth place.
Four Blue Devils place in the top eight in the women's 5,000m with Carly Seymour leading the way with a third-place effort. The Ebensburg, Pa., native turned in a provisional qualifying time of 16:39.99, while rookies Sophia Ziemian (16:48.43) and Kayla Hale (16:53.21) placed fifth and sixth, respectively. With a personal-best time of 17:01.68, Amanda Truelove finished in eighth for the Devils.
Both the Duke men's and women's distance medley relay squads placed second as Virginia swept the two events. The women, represented by Suejin Ahn, Brittany Whitehead, Katie Apibunyopas and Juliet Bottorff, recorded an 11:37.57 mark after the men's team, comprised of Joshua Lund, Matt Marriott, Cory Nanni and Ryan McDermott, clocked 9:49.14.
Throughout the day, seven Devils qualified for the finals in their respective events. Three runners, Leslie Morrison, Devotia Moore and Cydney Ross, will all compete in Saturday's women's 800m finals as the trio finished 3-4-5 in the prelims.
Also advancing was school men's 800m record holder Sean-Pat Oswald, who posted a 1:52.13 result in the prelims.
Continuing Duke's succes in the distance events were Kristina Krasich, Emily Sherrard and Cory Nanni in the women's and men's mile runs, who will all be in the finals tomorrow at 12 p.m. and 12:10 p.m.
The day ended on a high note as Amy Fryt grabbed another bronze medal for the Blue Devils in the women's pole vault. The Greensboro, N.C., native set a new personal best, clearing 4.05m (13-03.50).
Finals are scheduled in a dozen individual running events on Saturday (six men's, six women's), as well as well as six relays. Field events to be decided on Saturday include the women's high jump, the men's pole vault and the men's and women's shot put.
