UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Duke epee Jonathan Parker took seventh place out of 72 entries, and foil Dorian Cohen placed 10th out of 53 competitors on the final day of the Garret Open, hosted by Penn State in the White Building on Sunday afternoon.
Parker, a junior who went 34-25 in 2010, was the Duke men's squad's top finisher while Cohen, a senior and two-time All-America hauled in the foil squad's best finish.
Also nabbing top-20 finishes from Duke's epee group were juniors Tristan Jones (13th) and Nathaniel DeLucia (14th) and freshman Alessio Santoro (20th). Freshman Dylan Nollner (38th) and senior Graham Godwyn (40th) also competed.
From Duke's foil squad, freshmen Andrew Hsu (24th), Matt Budofsky (25th) and Jeff Martin (27th) followed Cohen with top-30 finishes. Senior Charles Keilin (32nd) freshman Chris Sullivan (38th) and sophomore Charles Marquardt (53rd) also competed.
Parker and Cohen's top-two finishes were two of three for the Duke fencing program as sophomore women's epee Emily D'Agostino took sixth place on day one of the Garret Open on Saturday.
