UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Duke sophomore All-America Emily D'Agostino took sixth place in the women's epee field on the opening day of Penn State's Garett Open on Saturday, November 13, in the White Building.
D'Agostino's top-10 finish was the first of the tournament for the Blue Devils, who will send their men's squad out on day two of the competition on Sunday. D'Agostino, who took 12th in the 2010 NCAA Women's Epee Championship, secured her sixth-place finish against 55 total epee entries. 
Also notching a top-20 finish in the women's foil competition was sophomore Lily Shepard who finished 19th.
Duke sent a full squad to the 34th annual Garret Open, including five freshmen women, four sophomores and two juniors. 
The Garret Open is Duke's final team event before the Blue Devils open the 2011 season on Jan. 22 at the Temple Dual meet. For complete results from day one of the Garret Open, click the link below.
