DURHAM, N.C. - GoDuke.com sat down with freshman tight end Ryan Hall on Sunday to talk about why he wore No. 87 in high school and what he likes to do in his free time.

GoDuke.com: Why Did You Choose Duke?
Ryan Hall: I feel like the balance we have with the academics and the coaching staff I don't see how anyone could turn that down. It is a high level in both aspects and if you get the opportunity to come here and get this kind of an education and play for these coaches I don't see why you wouldn't.
GD: Any Brothers or Sisters?
RH: I have a younger sister.
GD: What number did you wear in high school?
RH: No. 87 ... I had never played football before high school and I was going to try and play tight end but didn't know what position I was going to end up as. My dad used to tell me about a guy named Dave Casper who played for the Raiders. My team was black and silver just like the Raiders' uniforms so I thought it was a cool idea. I think No. 85 is also a solid tight end number.
GD: What sport would you play besides football?
RH: Baseball ... I ended up quitting to focus on football after my sophomore year. I was mainly a pitcher.
GD: What was your favorite NFL team and player growing up?
RH: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Mike Alstott.
GD: What websites do you visit most?
RH: I'm on facebook like everybody else but I tend to look at random sites like different fact websites. I also tend to check out google earth a lot to browse the world. I think it is interesting.
GD: What do you like to do outside of football?
RH: I love music and play guitar and piano. You can ask anybody in the dorm and they will say I am always singing. You can find me playing the piano late at night if I can't sleep.
GD: Who is your roommate this year?
RH: Dave Harding
GD: After football what job would you like to have?
RH: I am not sure but am taking a bunch of different classes to try and find something that sticks.
GD: Any interesting talents?
RH: All of the guys here laugh because I am pretty good at imitating people.
