Redmond Selected Preseason Second Team All-America

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke University senior Elisabeth Redmond continues to receive preseason accolades as the midfielder was selected second team All-America on Wednesday by Soccer America.
Last week, Redmond was named one of 45 players to the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy preseason watch list. The Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious award in women's collegiate soccer presented to the best player nationally.
Redmond is coming off a junior campaign in which she started 23 games, missing only one due to an injury. She scored 12 goals and added four assists during the 2008 slate, including a team-leading five game-winning goals, and was tied for sixth in the ACC in points (28).
The Morristown, N.J., native was named to the 2008 Soccer Buzz All-America Fourth team, All-Southeast Region Second Team, the NSCAA/Adidas All-Region Second Team, Duke/Adidas Classic All- Tournament team, as well as one of two Blue Devils to be named to the All-ACC first team.
In the Duke record book, Redmond has moved to tied for sixth on the all-time points list (69), tied for ninth in goals (23) and owns 195 career shots to rank fifth. She has totaled 28 points in each of the last two years to rank tied for eighth on the Blue Devil season record lists and her 12 career assists ranks second all-time at Duke. Along with teammate KayAnne Gummersall, the duo registered 27 goals, which is the highest-scoring tandem in Blue Devil single-season history.
