Shannon Rowbury Wins at USATF Nationals

EUGENE, Ore. ? Former Duke All-America Shannon Rowbury won the 1500m championship on Saturday as one of several former and current Blue Devils in action on the third day of the USA Track & Field Nationals.
Rowbury took first place with a time of 4:05.7, one second ahead of the next finisher. Also competing in the 1500m finals was Blue Devil senior Molly Lehman. She finished in eighth place with a mark of 4:12.13.
In the men's 1500m juniors, Duke freshman Stephen Clark qualified for the finals with a ninth place time of 3:53.62. He will race again tomorrow at 3:15 p.m. (PT). Freshman Cydney Ross was running unattached in the juniors 800m first round. She finished 12th with a time of 2:13.37 to miss qualifying for the finals.
For the long distance juniors events, Duke had a pair of freshmen competing on Saturday evening. Carly Seymour ran the women's 5000m and ended in fifth place with a time of 17:33.29. Andrew Brodeur then ran the men's 10,000m and came in 10th with a time of 33:39.13.
The only field event for the Duke representatives on Saturday was the men's long jump. Senior Jade Ellis, the Blue Devils' school record holder, recorded a 7.59m leap for his longest of the day. He finished in 19th place.
The USATF Nationals will conclude on Sunday on the University of Oregon campus.
