CHAPEL HILL, N.C. ? Cory Nanni and Molly Lehman each turned in standout performances in their respective races of the men's and women's 1500m run Friday night at the UNC Elite Meet at the University of North Carolina's Irwin Belk Track.
Nanni took second in the men's 1500m with a personal-best time of 3:43.81, good for fifth all-time at Duke and second in the ACC this outdoor season. His mark was another NCAA Regional qualifier and comes out to a 4:01.7 mile.
Lehman clocked a 4:17.84 to win the women's race and rank her second all-time at Duke, while it was her season-best by three seconds and another NCAA Regional mark.
The women's 800m saw three student-athletes notch Regional marks in Esther Vermeer (2:08.95-second place), Leslie Morrison (2:09.02-third place), and Devotia Moore (2:09.07-fourth place).
The men's 4x400m set an IC4A qualifier as they ran 3:15.54, the squad's fastest run this season. The team of Sam Bowler, Tyler Clarke, Caleb Duncanson, and Brad Troxell finished fourth place overall.
In the field, John Austin won the javelin in 209-8, an NCAA Regional and IC4A mark, while Amy Fryt finished fourth in the pole vault in an ECAC mark of 12-1.5.
Mike Schallmo threw a season-best 53-11.75 in the shotput to go along with his fourth place throw of 162-1 in the discus and sixth-place throw of 165-1 in the hammer. Michael Barbas was sixth in the shotput in 54-1.25.
The UNC meet was Duke's last meet before heading north to the IC4A and ECAC Championships May 15-17 in Princeton, N.J. NCAA Regionals are the following weekend, May 29-30, down the road in Greensboro, N.C.
