Five Blue Devils Selected To All-America Teams

DURHAM, N.C.?Duke University senior Ned Crotty captured All-America first team recognition to headline Duke's five selections to the United States Intercollegiate All-America Teams as announced on Thursday morning. Four Blue Devils earned repeat honors, while rookie CJ Costabile garnered his first All-America award.
Crotty was voted to the first team attack, marking the first time he has earned a spot on the top team. Junior Parker McKee picked up second team recognition on defense, while junior Max Quinzani and senior Brad Ross earned third team honors. Costabile was voted to the honorable mention squad as a longstick midfielder.
The 2009 ACC Player of the Year and Tewaaraton Trophy Finalist, Crotty captured All-America recognition for the second consecutive season after earning second team honors as a midfielder in 2008. He is Duke's 17th player to be named to the first team and marks the 23rd time a Blue Devil is featured on the top squad.
Moving to attack this season, Crotty paces the Duke offense with 23 goals and 53 assists for 76 points. His 76 points and 53 assists both are tops in the nation. The New Vernon, N.J., native scored at least one point in 17 games this season and tallied eight points three times, including in Duke's most recent victory over North Carolina in the NCAA Quarterfinals. His 53 assists this season rank second all-time in Duke single-season history and is just three shy of tying Matt Danowski's 56 in 2008. For his career, Crotty ranks eighth in assists (82) and 21st in career points (151).
A 2008 All-America honorable mention, McKee helps anchor a Duke defense that is allowing just 7.95 goals per game this season. He started all but one game this season and leads all players with 92 ground balls. In the past two games alone, the Greenwich, Conn., native collected 25 ground balls.
The Blue Devils leading goal scorer, Quinzani earned third team honors for the second consecutive season. He has 43 goals and 10 assists on 53 assists on the year, including a team-high 10 man-up goals. The Duxbury, Mass., native leads all active players with a 45-game scoring streak. Quinzani paces the team with six games with at least three goals. For his career, Quinzani ranks seventh in goals (128) and 18th in points (150).
Earning his third All-America award, Ross was voted to the third team for the second consecutive season. A member of Duke's top midfield line, the Darnestown, Md., has 20 goals and six assists this season and recently tallied his 100th career point in the NCAA Tournament win over Navy. He owns the NCAA record for wins in a career, playing in 72 of the Blue Devils' wins since 2005. For his career, Ross has 75 goals and 26 assists for 101 points.
Costabile earns honorable mention recognition after an impressive rookie season. He ranks third on the team in ground balls with 69 and is second among all longstick defensemen and midfielders in Division I lacrosse with 12 points (7g, 5a). He tallied his first career hat trick in the ACC Championship game to earn the tournament's Most Valuable Player Award. Also a force at the faceoff X, he is 46-of-84 for a .548 win percentage.
The Blue Devils continue their quest for a national title on Saturday, May 23, taking on second-seeded Syracuse at 12 p.m., at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The winner advances to the title tilt on May 25 at 1 p.m.
