PONTE VEDRA, FL ? Junior Adam Long shot a five-over 77 for the second straight day as Duke remained in 15th place at the John Hayt Invitational following two rounds of play.
The Blue Devils shot a 317 as a team on Monday at the Sawgrass Oceanside Course (par 72, 6,955 yards). The challenged TPC course yielded just five rounds of even-par or better in the second round and has tournament leader LSU at 15-over par through 36 holes. Arizona State (593) is two shots back and followed by Georgia Southern (600), UAB (604) and Georgia State (607) in the top five.
Long is tied for 33rd overall after back-to-back rounds of 77. Sophomore Wes Roach is tied for 41st after shooting a seven-over 79 on Monday. He is 11-over (155) through two rounds of play.
Michael Quagliano, a senior from Ardsley, N.Y., also had a seven-over 79 in the second round. He is tied for 67th overall with a 160 (+16).
Senior Clark Klaasen and sophomore Matthew Pierce, who is playing as an individual, are tied for 77th after each player shot 80-82=162 in the opening two rounds of play. Freshman Spencer Anderson is 82nd with a 168 through 36 holes of play.
Final round action for the Blue Devils begins on Tuesday at 8:36 a.m. on the backside of the Sawgrass Oceanside course. Duke will be paired for North Carolina Wilmington and Furman for the final 18 holes of the tournament. Live scoring and complete results are available at www.golfstat.com.
