DURHAM, N.C. ? GoDuke.com recently sat down with captain Greg Paulus for his senior profile. Paulus discusses what he enjoys most about playing for Duke, how much he enjoys having his younger brother nearby, what he watches on TV, plus much more.
GoDuke.com: What is it like to be playing your senior season?
Greg Paulus: It's exciting. Right now we're doing pretty well as a team, and it's a great opportunity for not only me but all the guys to play for Duke. Having only a few months left and it being my final year I'm just trying to take it all in and enjoy it because I know I don't get to do this every year of my life.
GD: How is it to have your brother just down the road at UNC?
GP: I love it. It's been a great couple years since he's been there and it's been awesome to watch him in his sport, and to be there for him, go to games and an occasional practice and for him to come over here to games, be friends with my friends and vice-versa, it's kind of like growing up again.
GD: Do you have any Duke-UNC rivalry between you?
GP: Not really. He's been great and supportive ? trying to come over whenever he can and I try to go over there whenever I can. It's great having a family member nearby. There's nothing like that.
GD: What do you watch on TV?
GP: The Office. I have the last one on TiVo so I'm going to watch that tonight. But Friends and Seinfeld are the others I like to watch on re-run.
GD: What music do you listen to?
GP: A little bit of everything. I'd say country and R&B are two at the top of my list.
GD: What is your favorite movie?
GP: I don't know if I have one particular one, but one that's up there is the old-school movie Hoosiers. I saw it growing up and it's one of those classics that I love watching.
GD: What websites do you visit most?
GP: ESPN.com, CNN.com, and I check my e-mail. Those are the ones that are most useful to me.
GD: What was your first job?
GP: I think I'm still working on it. I've always been active with sports so having like a full-time job, I really didn't have time for one. I'm still looking for that first job, I guess.
GD: What is your favorite meal?
GP: I'm a steak and potatoes guy. I love it, I could eat it every day.
GD: What talent would you most like to have?
GP: I'd like to be able to dance. I think having a little more rhythm would be great.
GD: Who is your favorite athlete to watch in another sport?
GP: I love watching Tiger Woods. Michael Jordan is my favorite of all-time, but Tiger is right behind him.
GD: What is your favorite city to visit?
GP: Either Washington, D.C. ? I have two brothers who live there ? or Los Angeles. I have another brother there who just had a little baby so I have my nephew out there.
GD: Do you watch college basketball in your free time?
GP: I watch a little bit. I've learned being here that you take care of what you can take care of and focus on, and worry about what your team is doing, but I watch a little bit. I also like to watch the NBA. But yeah, I flip through the channels and watch different conferences and teams play.
GD: What is your favorite part about playing basketball at Duke?
GP: Being a part of the tradition. I wanted to come here to be a part of all the different aspects that this place has and presents. Also being able to play for Coach K is something I've always dreamed of and to do that for four years has been really special.
GD: What is your favorite class ever taken at Duke?
GP: My econ class ? financial accounting. I learned a lot and that was really cool.
