DENVER -- Former Duke standout
Matt Danowski scored two goals and handed out one assist in the 2008 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game on Thursday night in Denver, Colo. The West All-Stars defeated Danowski's East squad, 31-15, as 10,124 fans looked on at INVESCO Field. Danowski also finished second in the freestle competition at halftime of the game.
Ryan Powell set an all-star game record with six goals to lead the West team to victory.
A rookie with the New Jersey Pride, Danowski has nine goals including a pair of two-point tallies along with eight assists in six games this season. He was the number two overall selection in the 2008 MLL Draft.
A two-time national player of the year and three-time first team All-America pick at Duke, Danowski led the Blue Devils to two ACC Championships while becoming the NCAA's all-time leading scorer with 353 points on 170 goals and 183 assists in 80 career games.
