DURHAM, N.C. ? Duke will wrap up the regular season on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., against Duquesne in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils will honor their three seniors prior to the meet--- Dan Fox, Bryan Gibson and Kellan McKeon. The match can be seen live and on-demand on ACCSelect.com.
The Blue Devils: Duke is 11-9 this season in dual meets. It is coming off its biggest win of the season with a 21-14 upset of UNC Greensboro on the road on Feb. 20. The Blue Devils are having record-breaking performances by two of its wrestlers this season.
Rewriting the Duke record books and leading the team in 2007-08 is redshirt sophomore captain John Barone. Barone's 11-second pin of Mike Walsh of Limestone College on Dec. 1 was the fastest fall in Duke history, breaking an 18-year-old school record. The 184-pounder is 33-6 overall and 17-3 in duals in 2007-08 with 13 falls. His 33 wins tie him for ninth and his 13 falls tie him for 11th this season in NCAA Division I. Barone is 68-22 overall as a Blue Devil, which is good for ninth place on Duke's all-time winning percentage list with a .756 clip. He is tied for second on Duke's single season wins list and is already 19th on the career wins list. He needs one more win to tie and two more victories to eclipse the single season wins record with one more regular season dual meet and the ACC Championships to go. Literally every Duke record is under assault this year by the native of Shirley, N.Y. Barone was also named the ACC's wrestler of the week on Nov. 27.
Right behind Barone is sophomore Voris Tejada at 157 pounds. Tejada boasts a 32-11 mark this year and is 13-2 in dual meets. His 32 wins this season tie him for fourth in school history. Tejada is 51-19 all-time at Duke, good for a winning percentage of .729 that ranks 12th in the Duke record books.
Kellan McKeon will represent Duke at 125 pounds on Wednesday night. The senior captain is 25-13 this season with three falls and two top-four tournament finishes. He is 12-7 in dual meets.
Redshirt senior captain Bryan Gibson will get the nod at 141 pounds for the Blue Devils. He is 11-6 with four pins this year at 133 and 141 pounds and is 7-4 in duals. Gibson is currently tied for 14th for career wins at Duke with 74.
Redshirt sophomore Michael Degli Obizzi will see action at 149 pounds. Degli Obizzi is 20-8 this season with five pins and has a 42-30 career record as a Blue Devil.
Junior captain Addison Nuding will get the call at 165 pounds against UNC Greensboro. Nuding is 27-8 on the year with two pins and a 14-4 dual record. He holds a 49-35 all-time record at Duke.
Having a solid season is redshirt sophomore Ben Wales at 174 pounds. Wales was named the ACC's wrestler of the week on Feb. 18 after his 2-0 performance with one pin on Feb. 16 against Virginia Tech and VMI. He is 19-14 this season with three pins and a 9-6 dual meet record.
The Opponent: Duquesne is 6-8-1 this year in duals, although it will wrestle in three meets this weekend in North Carolina prior to Sunday's match with Duke. Like the Blue Devils, the Dukes have beaten Princeton and Gardner-Webb and lost to Ohio. Unlike Duke, Duquesne has lost to Liberty.
