
Third Annual Tennis Alumni Match Ends in 5-5 Tie

Durham, N.C. - The Duke men's tennis team hosted the Third Annual Duke Tennis Alumni Match on Saturday at Ambler Stadium, as 13 former Blue Devils returned to campus for the event.
Duke's current roster of 11 players went head-to-head with the 13 former players in a mini dual match that consisted of five doubles and six singles contests, with each contest consisting of one set. This year's match ended in a 5-5 tie, as the current Duke team now has a 2-0-1 record against the alumni.
Recent graduate Joey Atas (2006-07) was the winner of this year's alumni 1-point tournament. Current Blue Devil Associate Head Coach Ramsey Smith won the title last year, while Ramin Pegan won the first title in 2005.
Former Blue Devil standout Geoff Grant was named Alumni Weekend MVP, going 2-0 on the day and improving to 4-0 for his career in Alumni Match play.
The 13 players that returned to their alma mater for the festivities include two-time All-American Joey Atas (2006-07), 2001 All-ACC player Marko Cerenko (1998-2001), Duke Sports Hall of Fame member Marc Flur (1980-83), 1990 All-American Geoff Grant (1989-95), Porter Jones (1997-2000), Joe Meir (1979-81), 1995 ACC Tournament MVP Philippe Moggio (1992-95), Rob Principe (1993-95), 1991 ACC Player of the Year Jason Rubell (1988-91), Ted Rueger (1998-2001), two-time All-American Ramsey Smith (1998-2001), 2006 All-American Jonathan Stokke (2003-06) and two-time All-American Michael Yani (2000-03).
