
Carleton Wins First Qualifying Match at All-Americans

Tulsa, Okla. ? Reid Carleton won his singles match in the first qualifying round of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Okla. on Monday.
Carleton, who is ranked No. 114 in the preseason singles rankings, drew Mathieu Dehaine of UCLA in his first match. Carleton downed Dehaine in a close match 7-5, 7-5. Carleton will move on to the second round of qualifying where he will face Steven Forman of Wake Forest at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Kiril Dimitrov, the No. 10 seed in the qualifying bracket, was matched up with Stanford's Alex Clayton to start things off. Dimitrov is Duke's highest ranked player in the preseason ITA singles rankings at No. 57 while Clayton is ranked No. 111 in the country. Clayton earned an upset over Dimitrov with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
No. 109 Dylan Arnould, a sophomore from Northampton, Mass., faced Ohio State's Justin Kronauge to start the tournament. Kronauge, ranked just ahead of Arnould at No. 104 in the preseason ITA singles rankings, won in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 to knock Arnould out of the tournament.
Carleton and Dimitrov will begin their run in doubles on Tuesday when they take on Robin Fahgen and Alex Skrypko of Southern Methodist.
Tuesday's schedule includes the second round of singles as well as the first and second rounds of doubles. Players will need to win three singles matches in order to qualify for the tournament's main draw. Doubles teams will also need to secure three wins to compete in the main draw starting on Thursday.
