FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Duke's 4x400 team of Nick Trombold, Peter Lewellen, Matt Danforth and Daniel King set a school record with a time of 3:14.17 Saturday at the Tyson Invitational. Their time was also good enough to qualify for IC4A.
Chris Spooner also registered an IC4A qualifying time in the 3000 (8:22.66). Spooner also recorded the second fastest mile in Duke history on Friday. He ran a 4:06.99 to also qualify for IC4As.
In other men's action, Jonathan Fay qualified for IC4As with a pole vault of 16-0.75 at a meet in Chapel Hill.
On the women's side, Shannon Rowbury ran a school record 4:34.94 mile on Friday at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Rowbury's time was an NCAA automatic qualifying mark and the fastest mile in the NCAA this season.
Liz Wort and Maddie McKeever also had strong efforts in the mile. Wort ran a 4:44.64 to record an NCAA provisional mark, while McKeever's 4:51.62 mile was good for an ECAC qualifier.
Lara Jones also became an ECAC qualifier by clearing 12-6.75 in the pole vault on Friday.
