DURHAM, N.C. - After 10 years in the National Lacrosse League, former Duke lacrosse standout and Colorado Mammoth defenseman Dave Stilley announced his retirement from the league this week.
After winning two championships with the Philadelphia Wings, Stilley was traded to Colorado midway through the 2003 season and played in 60 regular-season games and all eight Mammoth playoff games. The Mammoth won the NLL championship in 2006.
At Duke, Stilley was a four-year letterman (1994-97) and served as captain of the Blue Devils his senior year. He helped Duke to an overall ledger of 40-20, the 1995 ACC championship and three NCAA Tournament berths, and was a member of Duke's first team to reach the national semifinals (1997). Stilley received first team All-America honors in 1997.
