
Carleton Falls Short of Qualifying for All-Americans

Tulsa, Okla. ? Reid Carleton was unable to extend his winning streak to six games as he fell in three sets in the final qualifying match for the main draw of the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
Carleton entered Wednesday with a five straight singles victories, including two in the previous two days of qualifying. He matched up with Fresno State's Rudolph Siwy in what would be a back-and-forth match.
Siwy edged out Carleton in the first set by the score of 6-4. Carleton, who came in to the tournament with a preseason ranking of No. 114, trailed 5-2 in a tiebreaker for the second set with Siwy serving. However, he found a way to come back and take the second set 7-6 (6). The third set was also played evenly but it was Siwy who came out on top, matching his first set score of 6-4 to move on to the main draw. Carleton is now 7-3 in his first year as a Blue Devil.
Duke will be back in action Oct. 18-22 when they travel to Charlottesville, Va. for the ITA Southeast Regional Qualifier. The tournament will decide who goes on to compete for the ITA National Indoor Championships.
