
Blue Devils Advance in ITA Regionals

Charlottesville, Va. ? Two singles players and two doubles teams advanced in the main draw of the ITA Wilson Mideast Regional Championships on Thursday in Charlottesville, Va.
David Goulet claimed a straight set victory in singles over Sebastian Serrano of East Tennessee State 6-3, 7-5, in his first match of the main draw. Goulet moves on to the next round where he will face Maryland's David Kwon on Friday.
Alex Stone also earned a victory in his round of 128 singles match. He defeated Radford's Zack Watson in straight sets 6-1, 6-3. Stone advances to the round of 64 where he will face the ninth seeded Albert Larregola of Virginia Tech.
In doubles Aaron Carpenter and Alain Michel earned a default victory in the qualifying round. They moved on to the main draw where they would later lose to Radford's Martin Sayer and Zack Watson, 8-5.
The tandem of Reid Carleton and Kiril Dimitrov won their first match. They downed Jack Roux and Javier Tori of USC-Upstate by an 8-2 count. They move on to face the host school Virginia's Michael Shabaz and Sanam Singh.
Goulet and Christopher Price also earned a victory in their first doubles contest. They faced Wofford's George Kernodle and Andrew Stubbs, winning 8-5 to stay alive. Goulet and Price will face North Carolina's Kyle Baker and Will Plyler in the round of 32 on Friday.
The Blue Devils' duo of Stone and Dylan Arnould lost their first doubles match. They fell to the seventh-seeded Citadel's Danny Dossetor and James Eason, 8-6.
Play will continue at the ITA Regional Championships on Friday in Charlottesville. They will play the round of 64 in singles and the round of 32 in doubles.
