Camero blocked three kicks (2 FGs & 1 PAT) in 2004 ... Sophomore DT Clifford Respress blocked a PAT attempt in the fourth quarter, his first of the year and the second of his career.
Sophomore QB Marcus Jones entered the game on Duke's second offensive snap to replace freshman Thaddeus Lewis, who was banged up on the first play ... Lewis returned to the lineup later in the drive, but departed the contest for a second time following an illegal hit to the head by Virginia Tech's Aaron Rouse midway through the second quarter.
Sophomore LB Michael Tauiliili logged a team-best 11 tackles ... Tauiliili, who leads Duke with 28 total stops on the year, now has five double figure tackle games in his last seven contests dating back to last year ... In 14 career games, he has 120 tackles.
Junior RB Justin Boyle returned to the starting lineup following a one-week absence ... On the opening possession, he rushed twice for 20 yards and finished with 36 net yards on 10 attempts.
Senior CB John Talley recorded his first interception of the season midway through the first quarter ... The interception marks the 12th of Talley's career ? tops among active players nationally ? and his third against Virginia Tech ... Talley also had interceptions against the Hokies in both 2004 and 2005 ... With 12 interceptions, Talley now ranks tied for 23rd on the ACC all-time chart while remaining in fifth place on Duke's list.
For the second straight week, junior TE Nick Stefanow had three receptions, picking up 21 yards against the Hokies ... He had three catches for 44 yards at Wake Forest a week ago.
Junior WR Jomar Wright caught one pass for five yards on the day ... The catch was good for a Duke first down, and 27 of Wright's 39 (.692) career receptions have resulted in first downs.
With the victory, Virginia Tech evens the all-time gridiron series with Duke, 7-7.
