Ohio State Head Coach Anne Wilkinson
On the team's performance:
“We had some early opportunities during the game that we did not capitalize on. When we allowed errors, Duke gained a shift in momentum which resulted in a let-down for us. Our seniors put in a tremendous effort out there and they put themselves on the line. When you go all out, it makes you vulnerable ? but I prefer that we have taken the risks then not.”
On Duke's defense:
“I think they had good composure and they had good balance and the numbers back. When we got fast breaks we weren't able to get our numbers up again because they're really smart back there with their style of defense.”
Duke Head Coach Beth Bozman
On the team's performance:
“I think we played probably the best we played all year. We had a game plan and we executed and were able to finish things. This game is obviously very important because it advances us to the Final Four but it also gives us a tremendous amount of confidence going into the Final Four because of the way we played today.”
On going to four Final Fours in four years:
“Anyone who says it gets old never went. Every year it has been really special. I think this year is going to be especially special for us because it's Cara-Lynn [Lopresti], Liz [Floyd], Amy [Stopford] and Hilary [Linton's] final Final Four.”
On what it will take to beat Wake Forest:
“We have to play like we played today. We know what it feels like and we need to bring this game to Winston-Salem.
Duke Senior Midfielder Amy Stopford
On this specific Final Four opportunity:
“We certainly want to win it more than ever. We know that it's our last Final Four. We have potentially two more games and that's it. I think both teams really wanted it today and there was a lot of emotion on the field.”
On the team's defense:
“We had to communicate the whole game. They have some very dangerous forwards so we were aware of that from the start. I think everybody stepped up today; the forwards were playing defense as much as the backs.”
Sophomore Midfielder Marian Dickinson
On the team's offense:
“I think everybody just wanted it so bad today that it made it easier. People were willing to make sacrifices for the ball.”
