DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke head men's lacrosse coach Mike Pressler announced on Wednesday the elevation of Jon Lantzy to the top assistant coaching position. Lantzy had served the previous four seasons as the program's second assistant coach.
"We're pleased to announce the promotion of Jon to our first assistant position," Pressler said. "He has been a loyal professional over the last four years at Duke. Jon's attention to detail and work ethic are second to none. He is without question ready to head up our recruiting efforts as well as one end of the field. This allows us to keep a level of continuity within our staff as we look forward to the 2006 season."
"I am very excited about tackling the challenges that will come with my expanded role," Lantzy said. "It has been an honor to be part of such a great program and to learn from and work with one of the best head coaches in the game."
Lantzy, a 1991 graduate of Michigan State and native of Buffalo, N.Y., joined the Duke staff prior to the 2002 campaign after four seasons as the head coach at St. Andrews College. He also served five years as an assistant coach at Canisius College.
This past year, the Blue Devils established an NCAA single-season record with 17 wins against three losses, captured the ACC regular season championship and advanced to the national championship game.
