The Duke men's cross country team raced to victory Saturday, earning its first IC4A cross country title in school history against a field of 20 teams at the 97th annual ECAC/IC4A Championships at Fordham University. The women's team earned a ninth-place finish among 12 teams in the ECAC Championship race.

Junior Keith Krieger led a pack of three Blue Devil men who garnered All-East honors as top 25 finishers and five scorers in the top 31. Krieger's 25:14 put him in fifth place in the five-mile race, leading sophomore Chris Spooner in 10th (25:24) and junior Dan Daly in 23rd (25:44). Senior Chas Salmen crossed the line in 29th in a time of 25:50, three seconds ahead of freshman Geary Gubbins in 31st with just a 39 second spread between the five scorers. Sophomore Mark Buha (26:02) and junior Alex Reinhart (26:17) rounded out Duke's seven, placing 44th and 64th, respectively, among the 174 athletes.

The Blue Devils topped second-place Cornell, 98-112. Notre Dame earned 127 points to finish third, William & Mary took fourth with 150, and Duquesne rounded out the top five with 182.

In the women's race, freshmen Maddie McKeever and Anna Farias-Eisner had All-East performances, with McKeever's 5K time of 18:05.5 putting her in fourth place and Farias-Eisner's 18:24.6 finishing in 11th. Freshman Jessica Davlin ran third for the Blue Devils, finishing in 61st place in 19:30.8. Freshmen Molly Lehman and Patricia Loughlin, junior Lindsay Owen and freshman Michelle Seibert crossed the line within 37 seconds of each other to finish among the top 75.

The Duke women placed ninth, just 12 points behind eighth-place James Madison. Cornell took the ECAC title with 76 points.
