DURHAM, N.C. - For the first time in school history, the Duke women's lacrosse team is ranked first nationally in the IWLCA poll after beginning the season with a 3-0 record, including a victory over then top-ranked Maryland (9-8).
The Blue Devils will look to defend the top spot on Saturday as Duke will host 11th-ranked Vanderbilt (2-1) in Koskinen Stadium at 1:00 PM. This will conclude a three-game homestand for the Blue Devils as Duke will be on the road for the next three contests at 14th-ranked William & Mary (Mar. 12), at third-ranked North Carolina (Mar. 16) and at fourth-ranked Princeton (Mar. 20). The next home match will be on Mar. 24 versus second-ranked Georgetown (11:30 AM).
Junior Lauren Gallagher was selected co-ACC Player of the Week on Monday, after notching the game-winning goal against Maryland to end the Terrapins 43-game winning streak. For the week she had nine points (eight goals, one assist), nine ground balls and eight draw controls.
