Spoon Named ACC Swimmer of the Week

DURHAM, N.C. (November 20) -- Sophomore swimmer Ryan Spoon (Potomac, Md.) has been named the ACC Men's Swimmer of the Week, sharing the honor with North Carolina's Yuri Suguiyama.

Spoon had two individual top-10 finishes at the Nike Cup, held at Koury Natorium on the campus of the University of North Carolina this past weekend. Spoon helped lead the Blue Devils to a fifth-place finish out of 14 teams.

Spoon finished sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 57.15 and took fourth place in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:03.18. He also swam a leg on two relay teams, helping the Blue Devils to a sixth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay and a seventh-place finish in the 200 Medley relay.

Duke returns to action on Sat. Dec. 2nd, when the Blue Devils travel to Greenville, N.C. to take on East Carolina University. The meet will begin at 1 p.m.
