Former defensive standout Brenna Rescigno returned to Duke as a volunteer assistant coach in August, 2015.
A 2014 graduate of the university, Rescigno begins her collegiate coaching career at her alma mater after spending four seasons as a member of the Blue Devils’ back line from 2010-13. She played in 75 games over her career, starting every contest her final two seasons. As one of eight seniors on Bustin’s 2013 squad, she helped guide Duke to the NCAA championship match for the first time since 2005. That fall, she was part of a defensive unit that held opponents to just 1.47 goals per game and posted four shutouts.
Rescigno concluded her career with nine goals and seven assists, and as one of the Blue Devils’ most powerful hitters, was also integral among the team’s offensive penalty corner personnel.
A sociology major at Duke, Rescigno was an All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Academic Honor Roll selection. The Monmouth Beach, N.J., native spent the 2014 fall season serving as a commentator and analyst for Duke field hockey games on the Blue Devil Network and ESPN3.
