Kate Moore joins the Blue Devils' coaching staff in July, after a successful career in the pool and on deck.Â
Â
During the 2024-25 campaign, Moore assisted the Blue Devils to another top 25 finish at the Women’s NCAAs and top 10 finish for the Men at the CSCAA National Invitational. The Blue Devils set 6 new school records, including 2 relay records in the 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relays, and individually by Tatum Wall, who is the first women in school history to break the 48 second barrier, Ali Pfaff in the 100 and 200 backstroke and Kaelyn Gridley in the 100 Breaststroke. Kaelyn Gridley also matched her 4th place finish in the 200 breaststroke from the previous year as well as first team All-America honors in the 100 breaststroke. The program also saw multiple additions to the all-time top 10 record book. Â
In the 2023-24 season, Moore assisted the Blue Devils to their highest ever finish at the NCAA Championship (16th).  At the NCAA Championship, Kaelyn Gridley secured All-America honors with a fourth-place finish in the 200 Breaststroke, while Sarah Foley and Ali Pfaff earned second team All-America honors in the 200 IM and 200 Backstroke respectively.  The Women’s 400 Medley Relay made up of Ali Pfaff, Kaelyn Gridley, Aleyna Ozkan and Sarah Foley placed 7th for All-America honors for the first time in Duke’s history. Â
Moore joins the Blue Devils' staff after moving up the coaching staff at Washington State, most recently being elevated to an Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. This past season, Moore's recruiting efforts helped WSU reach new heights as freshman Dori Hathazi and Emily Ludgren became the first freshmen to earn a trip to the NCAA Swimming championships in program history.
Â
Following the 2022-23 season, two Cougars were selected to swim for Team USA at the World University Games, while one earned a spot on Team Hungary. Moore helped the 2022-23 team record six school records, 28 Top-10 times and six Gibb Pool records.

"I am excited to announce the completion of my staff search with the addition ofÂ
Kate Moore," Barnes said. "Kate is coming to Duke with a terrific background; years of experience and endorsements and high accolades from many of her peers. It was quite clear early in this process that Kate was very enthusiastic about coaching at Duke. We have an amazing coaching staff in place and this 2023-24 season is going to be fun and challenging!"
Â
During her time with the Cougars, Moore helped coach the first ever PAC-12 Champion in school history, while collecting the highest point totals in a PAC-12 Championship meet in program lore.
Â
Prior to her time in Pullman, Moore held coaching positions at East Carolina University, moving up the coaching ranks from a volunteer assistant to an Associate Head Coach title. Throughout her 13-year coaching career at ECU, Moore developed training programs for Mid-Distance Stroke and IM Groups.
