Joined the Duke Sports Performance Staff in the Fall of 2016 as an assistant director of sports performance. He handles women’s tennis, women’s golf, men’s golf along with men’s and women’s cross country.
Before coming to Duke, Bar worked in the public and private strength and conditioning field working with elite youth, high school, collegiate athletes, as well as current professional athletes in various sports.
Bar attended Fairfield University for two years before transferring to the University of Hartford, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Spanish Language in 2012.
He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), certified to conduct functional movement assessments through FMS, as well as a certified level 1 weightlifting coach through USA Weightlifting.
He also holds a Titleist Performance Institute certification (Levels 1 and 2) along with FMS and USA Weightlifting certifications.
Bar played soccer as a goalkeeper at the elite youth level, winning the US Club Soccer National Championship in 2006, as well as the collegiate level winning the MAAC Championship with Fairfield University in 2008. He then spent time playing soccer at the professional level in Europe, before returning to earn his bachelor’s degree and play soccer for the University of Hartford. Bar also has experience at the semi-professional level in the US playing in the USL-PDL and NASL.
Over the years, Bar has worked with professional athletes in golf (PGA & KFT), Basketball (NBA), Baseball (IL) and Softball (AU).
Bar resides in Durham with his wife, Larisa, along with their son, Britton, and dog Bailey. He is a four-time club champion at the Duke Golf Club (2017, ‘19, ‘21, 22).
