Brandon Kennedy joined the Duke Athletics staff in 2026 as an Academic Coordinator. In his role, Kennedy provides individualized academic support for Duke football student-athletes and plays a key role in promoting their personal, academic and professional development. He works closely with the academic support team to implement evidence-based learning strategies, guide course planning and degree progress, and ensure compliance with institutional and NCAA policies.
Prior to his arrival at Duke, Kennedy served as Director of Football Student-Athlete Development at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he implemented life skills programming, coordinated student support services, and served as a mentor for football student-athletes. He also held academic advising roles at UNC and the University of Alabama, supporting undergraduate students across a range of academic needs, including students on academic probation.
A former SEC offensive lineman, Kennedy competed for both the University of Alabama and the University of Tennessee, where he served as a team captain and was named a 2020 National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete and William V. Campbell Trophy finalist. His experience as a student-athlete continues to shape his approach to holistic academic support.
Kennedy holds two master’s degrees from Tennessee in Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior (2019) and Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication (2020). He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in biology from Alabama in 2017.
