Ben O'Grady begins his first season in association with the Duke women's rowing program. He spent last season as a volunteer coach at the University of Texas, working with their staff in observing, assisting and coaching team water workouts. Prior to that, O'Grady coached novice men at the University of Central Florida.
An experienced athlete, O'Grady continues to compete as both a coxswain and rower. In 2000, he won the men's championship eight at the Head of the Chattahoochee and placed third at the San Diego Crew Classic as a coxswain.
This past summer he competed as a coxswain and sculler for the Pennsylvania Athletic Club Rowing Association. O'Grady also ran his first marathon in February of 2001.
A graduate of the University of Florida in 1999 with a B.F.A. in Electronic Intermedia, O'Grady competed as a rower and coxswain for the Gators for three seasons. His awards included Most Valuable Rower honors in 1997 and captain of the men's team in 1997 & 1998.
