Assistant coach Trudy Vande Berg enters her fourth season on the Duke volleyball staff. Since joining the program in 2005, Vande Berg has helped the Blue Devils reach the NCAA Tournament in each of the last three years along with an ACC Championship in 2006.
Vande Berg came to Duke after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Wisconsin for two years, helping the Badgers to a No. 14 finish in the final 2004 AVCA poll and the round of eight in the NCAA Tournament. In 2004, Wisconsin defeated a pair of then-No. 2 ranked teams, Minnesota and Hawaii.
Prior to Wisconsin, she worked for two seasons as the first assistant at North Florida, where she helped produce a Division II All-America and assisted in all aspects of the nationally-competitive program. Additionally, she worked with the Team Florida High Performance Team and the 15 and 18 Elite teams in the Jacksonville Junior Volleyball Association for two seasons.
From 1998-2000, Vande Berg did stints as the Director of the Milwaukee Chapter of Starlings, a volleyball club for underprivileged student-athletes, as well as the 16-1’s team for Sky High-Milwaukee.
Vande Berg played four years at Wisconsin-Milwaukee for head coach Kathy Litzau from 1994-1997, establishing the school record for blocks in a match and career blocks. A first team All-Midwestern Collegiate Conference player as a collegian, she currently sits in the top ten for career kills, aces and digs at Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Vande Berg earned her bachelor’s in health care administration from Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1999.
