Upcoming Event: Track & Field versus NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 10, 2026

The 2000 ACC Cross Country champion, Kelly also led the Blue Devils to the team championship on a great day for the Duke team. Kelly was the runner-up at the NCAA Southeast Regional, losing only to teammate Terry Brennan. It was that Duke one-two finish which propelled the Blue Devils to the NCAA Championship for the second time in three seasons. Kelly looks for a third career NCAA trip in 2001, hopefully ending with All-America honors. In track, Kelly ran 8:24.07 for 3,000-meters qualifying him for the IC4A Championships, and placing him No. 2 all time at Duke for that event. In the IC4A meet, Kelly made the finals in the 3,000-meters.
Outdoors as a junior, Kelly lowered his 5,000-meter personal best to 14:20.77, which he ran at the Stanford Invitational. Kelly lowered his 1,500-meter best to 3:52.48, which made him one of four Duke athletes to advance to the ACC final. At the Penn Relays, Kelly ran on the 4xOne Mile Relay team, which clocked a time of 16:39.36, good enough for No. 2 on the Duke all-time list.
