Faraguna finished off her sophomore year in grand fashion, earning her first All-East certificate by leading off the Blue Devils fifth place 4x800-meter relay at the ECAC Outdoor Championships in a personal best split of 2:15.3. Faraguna showed the greatest improvement of any middle distance runner at Duke in her sophomore year, slashing her personal bests by over four seconds at 800-meters and eight seconds over 1,500-meters. Jan’s sister, Kristin, was a former Duke track athlete and member of the school record 4x1,500-meter relay team in 1998. As a prep, Faraguna had a personal best of 2:20 for 800-meters.
