Rich Church can be described as a modern renaissance man with a law degree and working towards completion of a doctorate in Divinity at Duke, but he is best known to many in the Durham community as a long-time runner and currently as the Duke volunteer assistant distance coach.

Church’s responsibilites include the recording of all distance workouts, locker room confidante and training partner to Blue Devil Distance runners and attender of morning runs and adminstrator of Saturday morning practices when Head Coach Norm Ogilvie is away at a meet. Church will also attend Blue Devil competitions when his busy schedule permits. Church, according to Ogilvie, “was extremely important last year in the development of our younger runners, especially when I was away at competitons with our older athletes.”
