Reardon was one of Duke’s brightest success stories in 2002 as the 800-meter runner moved up to the 1,500.After a full freshman season and a sophomore year indoors running consistent 1:54’s and 1:55’s in the 800, Reardon ran his first 1,500 at the Duke Invite, turning in a solid 3:56. In his next race, the ACC 1,500 trials, Reardon pulled off a big upset by advancing to the finals in only his second 1,500. The next day in the ACC final, Reardon made it three personal bests in as many races, this time exploding to a 3:50.21 to place him eighth.Reardon finished out his sophomore campaign with his two best 800 baton carries ever, clocking 1:52.9 on the anchor for Duke’s third place 4X800-meter relay in the Penn Relays college race and then running leadoff in 1:53.1 for the school record 7:28.00 team which placed fourth at IC4A Championships.
