2021 - Senior: Made five starts in 15 appearances as a senior … held a 2.82 ERA with a 4-1 record through 39.2 innings pitched with 49 strikeouts … tallied three saves on the season, including the first of her career against Central Arkansas on Feb. 13 … racked up a season-high seven strikeouts through 5.2 frames in her season debut versus Central Arkansas on Feb. 12.
2020 - Junior: Made 14 appearances and 12 starts in the circle before the season was shortened by COVID-19 ... Led the team with a 0.95 ERA - the lowest in program history - through 58.2 innings ... Put together an 8-2 record while pitching six complete games ... Racked up 58 strikeouts while yielding an opponent batting average of .168 for third best in the conference ... Ranked 14th nationally in ERA and 30th in hits allowed per seven innings (4.18) ... Recorded the best ERA in the ACC and helped the Blue Devil staff to lead the league with a combined 1.61 ERA ... Picked up her first win of the year in the season homer against Clemson on Feb. 7, tossing a one-hitter through five complete innings ... Set the program strikeout record with 14 K/s through seven innings in game one of the doubleheader vs. Gardner-Webb on March 8.
2019 - Sophomore (Stats): Capped her sophomore season with a 2.97 ERA (10th in the ACC) while leading the Blue Devils with a 9-5 record … Tallied four complete games in 120.1 innings of work while striking out 59 batters … Allowed just 58 runs on the year (7th ACC) and 51 earned runs (9th ACC) … Began her sophomore season with back-to-back wins, going 4.1 innings against Liberty (Feb. 9) before tossing a complete game at Campbell on Feb. 13) with three strikeouts … Picked up the start and went 4.1 innings with two strikeouts against Utah (Feb. 24) to earn her third win of the season … Put together perhaps the best performance of her career in the series finale against rival North Carolina on March 9, throwing the full 7.0 innings and allowing just one run on three hits while striking out four for the fourth win of her season, giving Duke its first victory in program history against the Tar Heels … Turned in a monster performance against Pitt on March 15, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI, a run scored and her lone home run of the season while also tossing 9.0 innings and striking out four to pick up the win … Earned the start at Virginia on March 24, allowing just one hit and no runs over 4.0 innings to pick up her sixth win of the season … Picked up her eighth win of the season behind five strikeouts (tying a career high) in 7.0 innings against NC State (April 20) … Held East Carolina (April 23) scoreless over 6.0 innings while striking out four for her ninth victory.
2018 - Freshman (Stats): Made 28 appearances and started in 15 games … Was the pitcher in 11 of those appearances, making six starts in the circle … Also made starts at first base and as the Blue Devils' designated player … Finished the season 1-2, having thrown 28.0 innings, allowing 19 runs (eight earned) on 34 hits while striking out 15 and walking nine … Posted a 2.00 ERA to close out her freshman campaign … Also recorded nine hits and drove in five runs while scoring one run and tallying one double and a walk … Made her Blue Devil debut in the second game at Florida Atlantic on Feb. 8, throwing 1.1 innings and striking out one … Recorded her first-career hit against Boston University on Feb. 10 … Picked up the first win of her career after tallying 4.0 IP and striking out a career-high five batters while allowing just one run (unearned) on two hits against Savannah State (Feb. 24) … Went 1-for-4 against Harvard on Feb. 24, recording the first two runs batted in of her career.
High School/Travel Ball: A standout in the circle and at the plate for Greenbrier High School in Evans, Ga. … twice been named All-State and Region Pitcher of the Year … led Greenbrier to a state championship her freshman season and a third-place finish in her sophomore campaign … turned in a 17-7 record and tallied a .391 clip with six homers in her junior season … the year prior she recorded 25 victories and just six losses as she reeled in GHSA Class 6A All-State honors … coupled with a .365 batting average, Butler paced GHS to a top three showing in the state tournament … went 13-3 her freshman season with a .365 clip at the plate en route to her first All-State laurel … sealed Greenbrier’s second state title, as she was the winning pitcher in the GHSA Class 5A State Championship game … on the club scene, she spent the 2013-15 seasons with Atlanta Premier before spending 2015-16 with the Atlanta Vipers … as a pitcher and first/third baseman for Premier, she led her squad to a ASA/USA National Runner-Up finish in 2015 … went 43-10 in her time with the Premier, also tallying 14 homers and nearly averaging .400 overall at the plate … for the Vipers, she was key in capturing the 2015 ASA/USA Junior Olympics 16U title, as well as the 2016 Champions Fall Showcase 16U and Scenic City Summer Showcase 16U championships.
Personal: Born Brianna Shanece Butler on March 21, 2000 in Des Moines, Iowa … Daughter of Alfonzo and Deborah Butler of Evans, Ga. … her sister, Robyn, was a softball standout at Gulf Coast Community College from 2007-08 and Georgia Southwestern in 2009 … her father played baseball at Fort Valley State University and has been a travel softball coach since 2013, while her mother has experience coaching basketball and softball … member of the National Honor Society, BETA Club, AP Scholar and on the National Merit Scholar Watch List … also on the All-A Honor Roll and a member of the Ring Committee and Chorus.
