Rodain Delus joined the Duke Athletics staff in January 2026 and serves as an Assistant Director of Sports Performance working with the football program.
Delus came to Duke following one year with the Chicago White Sox as its head minor league strength and conditioning coach. With the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers as part of the White Sox organization, Delus led the development of Grant Umberger to become the Cannon Ballers' first 100-strikeout pitcher, establishing a new single-season record. Delus also led Jordan Sprinkle to establish the Cannon Ballers' single-season record for stolen bases. The Cannon Ballers finished second in steals across all of Minor League Baseball.
Within the collegiate ranks, Delus spent time with the football programs at Northwestern (2024-25) and South Carolina (2016-18). He also gained NFL experience with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2018-24 as well as a preseason internship with the Detroit Lions in 2017. With the Steelers, Delus formatted daily practice scripts in conjunction with offensive and defensive coaches, streamlining communication and guaranteeing an efficient practice schedule, created and conducted gameday timelines, developed preventive care and return-to-play strength and conditioning programs and cooperated with team nutritionist to construct innovative weight management methods.
Delus graduated from Southern Utah in 2015 with a degree in athletic training and physical education & human performance. He also earned a master’s degree in advanced athletic training from South Carolina in 2018. While at Southern Utah, Delus was a member of the football program as a wide receiver.Â
