John Battle IVjoined the Duke Football staff in May, 2024 and serves as the director of player development.
Prior to his time in Durham, Battle IV served a year as the acting director of student-athlete development at the University of Houston. As part of his role, he pioneered and launched R.O.A.R. Student-Athlete Development program (Responsibilities, Opportunity, Awareness, Reward) and generated $175,000.00 in four months as part of its development initiative. He also constructed programming that provided services and support to student-athletes in the areas of career and leadership development, personal skills, social responsibility and community engagement.
From 2022-23, Battle IV served as an account executive and youth football liaison at the University of Miami, coordinating the Hurricanes’ youth football initiative.
Battle IV graduated from Louisiana State University with a bachelor’s degree in sport administration in December, 2018. He was a three-year starter in the secondary for the Tigers who carded 144 total tackles and five interceptions during his career. A 2017 and 2018 team captain, Battle IV helped LSU to the 2019 Fiesta Bowl championship. He went on to have a three-year NFL career.
