Gator Lamascus joined the Duke coaching staff in March 2024 and serves as an analyst working primarily with the wide receivers.
Lamascus’ wide receivers enjoyed a highly productive campaign in 2024 as Jordan Moore and Eli Pancol became the second Duke pair to both register eight or more touchdown receptions. Moore and Pancol were each Third Team All-ACC selections for their efforts. In addition to the outstanding duo, Sahmir Hagans caught 47 passes for 413 yards and three touchdowns, and Que’Sean Brown caught 41 passes for 455 yards and two scores. Brown, a redshirt freshman, finished fourth in Duke history for receptions by a freshman and fifth in receiving yards.
Prior to arriving in Durham, Lamascus spent four seasons (2020-23) in a variety of roles at Southern Methodist University. He served as a graduate assistant his first two years, working with the quarterbacks (2020) and wide receivers (2021), before being promoted to a quality control coach and analyst mentoring the quarterbacks (2022) and tight ends (2023).
While with the Mustangs, Lamascus coached quarterbacks Shane Buechele, Tanner Mordecai and Preston Stone to All-AAC honors during their tenure. Buechele and Mordecai would later sign as undrafted NFL free agents with the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, respectively.
Before his time in Dallas, Lamascus served two years (2018-19) as a graduate assistant at the University of Kansas, working with the wide receivers. During his time with the Jayhawks, he helped mentor Steven Sims Jr., who concluded his tenure with 214 receptions for 2,582 yards (12.1) with 19 touchdowns in 46 career games. After graduation, Sims Jr. signed as an undrafted NFL free agent with the Washington Redskins.
Lamascus began his coaching career at the high school level in Texas as an assistant coach working with the wide receivers. He spent three seasons (2014-16) at Navasota High School before switching to A&M Consolidated High School for one year (2017).
He was a two-year letterwinner at wide receiver for Texas A&M University from 2012-13. During his time in College Station, Lamascus helped the Aggies to a 20-6 overall record, including two postseason victories in the 2012 Cotton and 2013 Chick-fil-A bowls following wins over No. 11 Oklahoma and No. 21 Duke.
A native of Navasota, Texas, Lamascus graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor’s degree in university studies in race, gender and ethnicity in December 2013. He also obtained his master’s degree in liberal studies from SMU in 2022.
