Fabian Hillman joined Duke’s athletic staff in July 2023, and serves as an assistant director of sports performance, working primarily with the football program.
Hillman came to Durham after a one-year stint (2022) as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant at the University of Tennessee at Martin. While there, he worked closely with the football program assisting with the team’s strength, speed, conditioning, and recovery sessions. Hillman also served as the department’s lead for the football strength and conditioning internship program. During his lone season, the Skyhawks compiled a 7-4 record and claimed the Ohio Valley Conference championship. Additionally, Hillman worked with 25 student-athletes that earned all-conference honors, including the defensive and freshman players of the year.
He joined the Skyhawks staff after serving one year (2021) as a strength and conditioning graduate assistant at Scared Heart University. During his time with the Pioneers, Hillman assisted with the football and women’s volleyball programs, while independently working with the men’s wrestling, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis and women’s bowling teams.
Prior to his time at Sacred Heart, Hillman had a brief stint at the University of Georgia as a strength and conditioning intern after graduation from Morehouse College.
Hillman earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Morehouse in 2021. He is currently working toward a master’s degree in sport coaching and performance from UT Martin. As an undergraduate, Hillman served as a strength and conditioning intern with the University of Kentucky, the University of Virginia and Morehouse, working primarily with the football programs.
Hillman holds a certification as a strength and conditioning specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and a level 1 sports performance coach certification through USA weightlifting. In addition, he is CPR/AED and First Aid certified.
