David Stuckman joined the Duke coaching staff in March 2026 and serves as an analyst working primarily with the cornerbacks. Stuckman was chosen to take part in a pair of professional development programs: the American Football Coaches Association 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute in 2022 and the NFL/NCAA Coaches Academy in 2023.
Stuckman worked with Duke defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Jonathan Patke during the 2022 season at Incarnate Word, where Patke was the defensive coordinator/linebackers coach and Stuckman mentored the team’s cornerbacks.Â
Prior to arriving in Durham, Stuckman spent two seasons (2024-25) as a pass game specialist and nickels coach at Texas State. While with the Bobcats, Stuckman helped the program to a 15-11 (.577) record and consecutive bowl game victories in the 2024 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl and 2025 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl.Â
During Stuckman’s first year in San Marcos, the Bobcats improved on third-down defense from 126th nationally to 49th. In the 2025 season, Stuckman helped the Texas State defense lead the Sun Belt Conference in tackles for loss per game (7.4) and rank fifth in the league in total defense (382.9).Â
Prior to joining the Bobcats, Stuckman was the pass game coordinator and safeties coach at Bethune-Cookman for the 2023 season.

Stuckman was a member of the Incarnate Word staff in 2022, when the Cardinals reached the FCS playoffs semifinals, were ranked as high as No. 7 in the FCS and won the Southland Conference championship. With Stuckman’s help, the defense finished third in FCS in defensive passing efficiency and fifth in passing defense.Â
Before UIW, Stuckman spent two seasons (2020-21) at Indiana State as the cornerbacks and nickelbacks coach and one season (2019) at Louisville as a defensive analyst. In 2019, Stuckman helped the Cardinals capture six more wins than in 2018 and finish the season with a Music City Bowl win over Mississippi State. On defense, Louisville improved by over 10 points per game and more than doubled its sack total from the 2018 season.

In 2018, Stuckman was a defensive quality control coach at Appalachian State working with the defensive backs and helping the Mountaineers to their third-straight Sun Belt title, an 11-2 record and a fourth consecutive bowl win. App State defeated Middle Tennessee in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl with Stuckman serving as the cornerbacks coach.

Stuckman helped the Mountaineer defense rank sixth nationally in scoring defense at 15.7 points per game and hold the opposition to 10 or fewer points in seven contests. App State’s unit also ranked third in the country in passing defense (148.1) and sixth in total defense (279.3).Â

Before App State, Stuckman spent the 2017 season as a graduate assistant at LSU, mentoring a pair of second team All-Americans in Greedy Williams and Donte Jackson. Williams had a breakout year with the Tigers in 2017, leading the SEC in interceptions (6) and finishing No. 2 in the conference in passes defended (17). As a unit, LSU allowed only 11 passing touchdowns, the second-lowest total in the SEC, and the Tigers were No. 2 in the league in pass efficiency defense.

In 2016, Stuckman served as safeties coach at Division II Florida Tech helping the program reach its first-ever D-II playoff appearance.

Prior to Florida Tech, Stuckman spent the 2015 season at Louisiana Tech. He helped the Bulldogs to a 9-4 record and a second-place finish in the Western Division of Conference USA. The Bulldogs finished eighth nationally in defensive touchdowns after forcing 22 turnovers, including 13 interceptions.

Stuckman got his collegiate start in 2014 at Division II Midwestern State University as a defensive backs graduate assistant. He helped coach a unit that finished second in the Lone Star Conference in total defense and led the conference in scoring defense.

Stuckman additionally did stints with Gainesville (Fla.) High School and P.K. Yonge (Fla.) High School. He is also a three-time recipient of the NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship, working with the Carolina Panthers (2018-2019) and the Chicago Bears (2021).

Stuckman, a native of Gainesville, Florida, played four seasons at Grambling, helping GSU to the 2008 Black College National Championship and 2008 and 2011 Southwestern Athletic Conference titles. A team captain in 2011, Stuckman was a defensive back and return specialist for the Tigers.

Stuckman graduated from Grambling in 2012 with his bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and management.
